The reading made me understand how john cage was a pioneer of modern music and the creation of new genres. At first, I was very skeptical about his performance of 4,33 minutes thinking he was just nuts, out of his mind just as the people in the crowd were when he performed it for the first time.

It made me realize how music can be very similar to a painting and can be questioned from person to person, and there is no specific rule or canons that gives you a specific path to follow, bringing you to explore sounds and create your own piece of art.

As he started his performance and the silence became louder and louder, people started to have mixed feelings about this and didn't know how to act, creating the performance with any sound they were making.

As it is impossible to be completely silent in a room full of people, every single little sound made by every single person, created a symphony for 4.33 minutes, making his performance a success that would've been recognized later in the future.

This performance also demonstrated how ahead of his time his idea was meant to strike, and how creative his mind was.

I am not going to lie by saying that at first impact I enjoyed the performance, but it took e a second to appreciate it and actually understand the significance of it. The project we did, following his lesson,

made me realize how cool the sounds around us are and how much potential there is around us to create a masterpiece.
